The Summer Water Sports Team

Summer Water Sports isn’t a job… It’s a lifestyle. Meet the core members of the SWS team, working hard all year round to keep SWS at the top of its game.

Geordie Newlands

Geordie started working for Summer Water Sports in 2001 and worked his way to the top. He purchased the company in 2006 and is now the director. During Geordie’s first 5 years with Summer Water Sports he worked in almost every role, making him the right guy to run the company. Geordie graduated from the University of Guelph in 2006. He now lives full time in Port Carling, where he is a member of the Port Carling Fire Department and father of two boys. Geordie loves all aspects of water skiing. When he’s not on the water he enjoys downhill skiing, curling, playing hockey and running.

Steve Morrison

Steve Morrison

Hailing from Mississauga, Ontario, Steve has been our waterfront director at Clevelands House since 2008. He has also evolved into one of Canada’s top show drivers and was recently added to the 2012 National Ski Show Team. Val Newlands

Ryan Wilson

Ryan is our Service Manager at SWS Marina, he started with us during our busy summarization season in 2014.  He has quickly become an integral part of the daily operations of SWS Marina. Growing up in Brantford, and learning his mechanical background from working at his Father’s shop, Ryan brings a wealth of knowledge to our service department. He graduated from Mohawk College and is a Licensed Interprovincial Automotive Technician, Certified Ilmor Technician, and Certified Mastercraft Technician. When Ryan is not busy working on boats, he enjoys life in Rosseau with his wife Jill and their two boys Brycen and Braxton. You can often find Ryan on a Saturday riding dirt bikes up and down the road amusing his kids and dogs all day long.

Val Newlands

Val Newlands

Val has been apart of Summer Water Sports since 2006, but only became an official employee in 2014, after finishing a year of maternity leave with her and Geordie’s first child, Riley. Val works at SWS Marina, managing the boathouse store, looking after all the ordering, receiving and merchandising; as well as managing our social media and website. As a Muskoka local, Val has a born love for the area and enjoys every season and activity that Muskoka has to offer. Geordie, Val, Riley and Deacon live on Brandy Lake in Port Carling and enjoy their nightly skis on the calm water – at least when the ski shows don’t consume their evenings.

Lisa Elder

She stumbled upon our company when she was looking to get out of the city and move to Muskoka and hasn’t looked back since.
